Standing on her porch was one of the 7-year-old kids from her sister-in-law’s family. The little girl had with her a backpack full of snacks, juice boxes, and a blanket.
“She was sweaty and tired but looked proud of herself and declared that she wanted to live with me from now on,” she said.
“I know it’s about a 45 min walk from her house to mine for an adult. I have no idea how long it took her to get there.”
Thinking her mom probably had no idea that her kid was at her house, she attempted to call several times, but the mom never answered.
She left the mom a message, before putting on a movie for the 7-year-old and getting her a nice cold beverage.
Next, she tried calling her sister-in-law to fill her in on the little girl’s whereabouts, and when her sister-in-law picked up, she could hear how panicked she was.
Her sister-in-law explained that their entire family had spent the past few hours looking for the little girl and she would head to her house to pick her up immediately.
“Before she got to my house their mom called me yelling about how could I tell SIL before her,” she continued.
“And how did I think it was ok to just take her kid?!?! She doesn’t seem to believe 7 walked there herself, heck if I hadn’t seen how tired she was I wouldn’t have believed it.”
When her sister-in-law got to her house, she was still on the phone with the kid’s mom. Her sister-in-law stuck up for her, saying there was just no way that she had kidnapped the kid.
Her sister-in-law pointed out how “wild” and “independent” the little girl was, but the mom did not want to hear it.
