Obviously she didn’t intend to end up with the exact same dress as her mother-in-law, just in a different color, and so she did not want to return her dream wedding dress.
Her mother-in-law protested that all her guests would believe she’s trying to imitate her if she ends up having the same dress just a few weeks after their wedding.
She told her mother-in-law that she felt badly for her, but she was still going to be wearing her wedding dress.
After she explained all that, her fiancé’s family freaked out on her and then refused to come to the wedding.
All in, around 15 of her guests are saying they aren’t coming, which is a lot. Even her fiancé’s sisters said they will not be bridesmaids anymore, and they all also blocked her fiancé from being able to contact them.
Her fiancé’s stepdad and his biological father have all not sided with her either, and they berated him for her wedding dress situation.
Her fiancé’s family has also excluded them from events since then.
In light of how everything has spiraled out of control, this bride-to-be decided she only had one choice…to return her dream wedding dress.
She also offered an apology to her mother-in-law, and while she’s convinced her fiancé’s family will never let this go, she does think she might be able to smooth things over with her mother-in-law.
How would you handle this?
