“She kept staring at me and nodding, and I thought I’d take my chances. I asked if I could kiss her.”
As soon as those words had left his mouth, Jess jumped up off the couch and went to go sit in a chair across the room.
Jess then took her phone out and he started saying sorry to her. Jess said to forget about it, and then things went silent between them for a bit.
She eventually said to him that she thought her best friend Kim was right about things, to which he asked what she meant.
Jess then went on to say that Kim has been telling her for years that he was only trying to sleep with her and that’s the only reason they are even friends.
Kim explained to Jess that she should test him, and that night, Jess pretending to want to move past the friend zone was the test Kim had been talking about.
He immediately felt terrible about what had just happened, and he tried profusely apologizing yet again to Jess.
He did admit that he thought she was attractive, but he really valued their friendship and would never do anything to ruin it.
Jess cried, but he thought she had accepted what he said to her.
“After Jess went home, I got to thinking that it was incredibly meanspirited that she would do that to me,” he continued.
“I apologized, but that juvenile high school prank just started to strike me the wrong way. I talked to my sister (who I can talk to about anything), who reinforced that it was disgusting behavior.”
