Detective Todd Clancy opened up Carla’s case, and as he investigated, he began speaking to the witnesses who had been previously interviewed so many years ago.
Detective Todd Clancy was also luckily able to lift a fingerprint off a piece of evidence that had been left behind at the scene of Carla’s murder.
That tiny bit of evidence was then taken to a grand jury, and 59-year-old Ralph Williams wound up being arrested and charged with first-degree murder in Carla’s death.
Detective Todd Clancy said that although he was the one who ultimately pushed this cold case to a close, he owes a lot to the authorities who originally were assigned to Carla’s case nearly 4 decades ago.
“I would also like to thank the detectives that worked this case back in 1983, because they deserve most, if not all, the recognition; Detective Mark Woods And Sergeant Robert Brand,” Detective Todd Clancy said.
“If it wasn’t for their documentation and hard work back in 1983, we would not have all the information we have today.”
