The wedding has since passed, but the past two months have been filled with passive-aggressive posts on social media and “bride/groomzilla tantrums.”
That was until the woman’s mother received gut-wrenching news– she only had six months left to live. So, the woman’s brother and his wife decided they wanted to make up with the family.
“We all ended up having dinner at my family home tonight. Everyone was being extremely cold to my brother and his wife,” the woman said, “No one really cared to hear about their wedding nor look at their photographs.”
As the night went on, her brother eventually gathered the siblings separately to ask why the family was mistreating him.
“My youngest brother told him that tonight wasn’t the time, then walked out. My oldest brother said that, when our mom died, he would never speak to him again,” the woman said.
Since she is the youngest sibling, though, her brother was the most upset with her. He felt that she really should have been there.
“I told him you got your big day, now you have to deal with the consequences,” the woman said. Her brother became very upset and left with his wife.
“My brother sent me a heartbreaking email afterward about how he felt so rejected since we were not at his wedding and did not apologize after,” the woman said.
With a newborn baby and her mother being ill, this woman is confused about how to respond to her brother. What would you have done in this situation?
