“Despite me being a UK size 6/8 Jane ordered me a size 14. She and the maid of honor, Clo, giggled like school girls as they gave it to me, and Clo said “we heard they come quite small so thought we’d play it safe with well you.”
“The giggling continued when I put it on and it was a tent on me, with Jane saying “well I think it fits”. By now 2 of the other bridesmaids were smirking, giggling, etc too, I offered to send for a new size and pay the difference but Jane refused and claimed no smaller size would fit me.”
Surprisingly, Jane’s step-grandma Nell did her best to make her feel better. Nell tried to combat the body-shaming comments that Jane and Clo made, but these two women were relentless.
When Nell commented on how her back and shoulders were more narrow than her chest, Jane announced to everyone that she’s basically “deformed.”
“Overall it was a horrible day, and I felt like I was 13 again being bullied by the ‘popular girls,'” she said.
She went home and decided not to make any rash decisions.
She later talked everything over with her boyfriend and her roommates and decided she wanted to drop out of the wedding and not be one of Jane’s bridesmaids anymore after the body-shaming that happened to her.
“I know this will cause issues with the wedding as it is next month, and duties, etc have already been sorted out (I’m in charge of the flower girls) but I can’t mentally put myself through any more of Jane, Clo, and their friends’ bullying. It is really starting to affect me,” she continued.
“I also know if I do drop out I will have to tell Rob why, and I don’t want to appear like I’m being mean about Jane, or ruin his day as he deserves happiness.”
She’s struggling with whether or not it’s selfish of her to want to bow out of being part of this bridezilla’s day, especially since she does not want to cause Rob any stress. What do you think she should do? You can read the original post on Reddit here.
