This Bernedoodle Was Gravely Injured In A Hit-And-Run And Then A Good Samaritan Tried To Chase Down The Driver

Corey stated that his fiancée, who was not harmed, had thought of taking down pictures of the driver’s license plate, but she decided to take care of Champ first.

“A decision I loved that she made,” Corey said.

The couple took Champ to the hospital and he received emergency surgery on the same day for multiple fractures in his pelvis and a fractured ilium.

He had gotten a plate and numerous screws inserted. The vet stated that Champ should be on good terms for recovery.

Corey has also created a GoFundMe post to seek some financial aid for Champ’s surgery and aftercare costs.

The couple was quoted between $8,000 to $9,000, but with some savings, they set the goal to be $2,500.

Corey explained that the savings were from the wedding funds they had prepared for their wedding next year. However, family always comes first.

As of April 23, Champ was already on his journey of recovery. His surgery went well with a plate installed, and the fractures were repaired.

Thankfully, Champ experienced zero additional complications and was allowed to go home. “Although he is still immobile, he can get comfortable,” Corey said.

Champ’s recovery is expected to take up to three months. If you’d like to follow up with Champ and check up on his recovery, please visit the page here.
