This Young Dad Is Wondering If He Went Wrong Encouraging His Daughter To Be A Housewife

She clearly has a vivid imagination and this dad doesn’t want to squash it. Yesterday, he took his daughter grocery shopping and they ran into a couple of their neighbors.

His neighbors were chatting with his daughter, who was pretending that she had gone grocery shopping so she could make her husband and her kids dinner.

His neighbors looked at him strangely and went on their way. Well, a couple of hours after running into his neighbors, he was back at home when they knocked on his door.

His neighbors requested a “private” chat with him away from his daughter.

“After I explained what’s happening, they gave me a one-hour lecture about how…ignorant I was and I should stop encouraging this because I was damaging my daughter,” he said.

“They told me we aren’t in the 60s anymore and young girls shouldn’t dream about being housewives anymore and demanded I stop brainwashing my daughter because her subconscious will start settling for being a housewife instead of dreaming about bigger things.”

That conversation with his neighbors has left him unable to sleep at night because he’s worried that they are right. He’s so upset that “encouraging” his daughter to “be a housewife” it’s actually a very bad thing and not something that a good dad does.

“Every day has been a struggle and most of the time I don’t even know if what I am doing is right so the thought of unintentionally hurting my daughter is filling me with guilt,” he concluded.

Do you think he did anything wrong by letting his daughter know that being a housewife is perfectly alright?
