After her sister got into guitar, she started stealing her kind of style. She then would try to copy other parts of her life, like starting a band of all girls after she did or writing a song with the same exact theme to it.
Her sister has done so many things at this point to lead her to believe that if she’s not trying to copy her, she’s trying to compete with her, and it’s destroying their bond.
“I feel so sad and so suffocated,” she said. “I feel like she is taking my ideas that I spend so much time on, trying to be creative and original, copies me, and then tries to one-up me.”
“Now she has become obsessed with being a singer-songwriter which has been my dream since I was 14. She never wanted to do any of this when we were kids.”
“She only wanted to do this when she saw me being successful at it. Now it’s literally the only thing she ever posts about. She doesn’t talk about anything else other than herself and her music. It’s consumed her whole personality.”
Things with her sister have gotten so awful that she hasn’t even spoken to her in more than a year. Her sister was basically her best friend, and now they don’t even have a relationship.
Distancing herself from her sister though hasn’t made her feel better; it’s only made her feel worse.
She stopped making music for fear of her sister being envious of her, and she wants to get back into doing it though.
Although she would like to try to make amends with her sister, she’s torn. She misses her, but she doesn’t miss her taking her ideas.
“The copycatting, jealousy and competition have really ruined our once close relationship and I feel like she doesn’t care about how I feel in this whole matter, she just cares about becoming famous and will take my ideas to try and get there,” she continued.
“But mostly, I feel heartbroken that my dream of being a singer-songwriter has been suffocated.”
