His Girlfriend Keeps Telling Him That She Expects Her Engagement Ring To Cost At Least $15,000

His girlfriend brings this all up on a basically a daily basis, and he’s not sure if this is “normal” or not.

He doesn’t care about possessions at all, so he can’t figure out if he just can’t relate to his girlfriend in this regard or if what she’s asking for is not really realistic.

He makes around $80,000 to $100,000, whereas his girlfriend makes about $250,000 all in, and she does care about the finer things.

“By some standards, it’s a reasonable ask,” he added about what his girlfriend expects him to spend on the ring.

“But it still seems ridiculous to me. Like I might make decent money but I only make like $20k in savings a year, after all expenses and taxes and whatnot.”

“2-3 months of salary for a ring sounds okay until you compare it to how much money you actually keep. Like nowadays expenses are so goddamn high.”

In his area, he has to shell out $6 for gas and $3,5000 in rent that his girlfriend does pay half of. Add that to the rising costs of groceries and he’s not sold on spending $15,000 or more on the ring.

Do you think he should spend what his girlfriend wants him to on the engagement ring?
