A 19-year-old girl has a stepsister a year younger than she is, and her stepsister has been in her life for a decade now.

When she was younger, her own parents split up, and then her dad passed away right as her mom began seeing her current stepdad.

As for her stepsister, her stepsister’s mom passed when she was only a baby, and her stepsister enjoyed having it just be her and her dad after that.

Ever since her stepsister entered her life, they have not gotten along, starting with day one. As soon as her stepsister and stepdad moved in with her and her mom, her stepsister smashed a photo of her dad and accused her of being a “baby” when she was visibly upset by it.

Then when her mom and stepdad had children together, her stepsister started hating them.

The final straw for her really as to why she dislikes her stepsister is when her stepsister mentioned that her dad had to have been terrible for him and her mom to be divorced when he passed away.

“She also said everyone was laughing at me for being sad years after my dad died,” she explained.

“This stuff never stopped. Her dad put her in therapy and all…but I can’t imagine a time when I would ever want to do something for her after all that.”

That’s all just a sampling of the nasty things her stepsister has said and done. All of the problems that have occurred between them have not gotten fixed or addressed, even though it has been 10 years.

15 months back, she finally moved out of the house, and she has not seen nor spoken to her stepsister since then.

About a week ago, her stepsister graduated from high school, and she did not want to go at all, though she happens to live close to her stepsister’s school.

On the day of her stepsister’s graduation, her stepsister got a ride to the ceremony with a friend, but her mom’s car and her stepdad’s car would not start for anything.

Her mom called her up to tell her this, which didn’t surprise her at all since her mom has needed a new car for a while yet can’t afford it, and her stepdad doesn’t take good care of his car at all.

“My mom had called when she realized and asked if I would go and “support my sister” at the last minute,” she said.

She refused to go. Although her mom, her stepdad, and her little sister and little brother had been planning on being at the graduation, they missed it since the taxi that came to get them was incredibly late.

When her stepsister noticed that not a single person from their family made it to her graduation, she was super upset.

Her mom was unhappy that she didn’t attend her stepsister’s graduation, and her stepdad was furious with her.

“He said I have always been an amazing big sister to my little brother and sister and I had the chance to be that for his daughter and to show her that I love her, but I turned it down,” she continued.

“He told me his daughter was heartbroken to have nobody in her family there to witness it. I pointed out how we were never family and how she has made it clear my feelings don’t matter…”

She said to her stepdad that her stepsister has been rude about her own dad’s passing, and her stepsister has tried to tell their younger siblings that they don’t have any love for them.

“…She is not good to me, is actually downright toxic when it comes to me, and therefore I am ceasing to recognize her as part of my family,” she concluded.

Do you think she should have offered her stepsister an olive branch and gone to graduation, or do you agree with her no longer wanting to be involved with her stepsister?
