This Girl Is Wondering If She Is To Blame For Her Friend Dropping Out Of College Just A Year Before Graduation

All of this behavior continued for a few months until one day when the girl saw David’s screensaver in class. It was a photo of her.

She immediately became embarrassed and decided that was her last straw. She finally confronted David but, in an effort to save his feelings, made up a white lie.

“Instead of being honest with David, I lied and told him that we could not hang out as much anymore because I had started dating someone and wanted to respect my new relationship,” the girl said.

David clearly had feelings for her and did not take the news well. He began to spam her with messages daily, some of which were pretty alarming. So, she finally reached out to their professor and reported one of his messages.

“He said something that warranted a mental health check. And, apparently, my professor reported him for that and for harassing me afterward,” the girl said.

The girl’s university ended up involving the police, and David had to meet with his department board. After the investigation ended, David received a mark on his record and subsequently dropped out of school.

Now, the girl feels terrible. David was only one year away from graduating, and she believes she might have overreacted. Nonetheless, the girl’s friends have insisted that she is not to blame.

Do you think that the girl appropriately handled the situation? Should she have acted differently?
