After Her Husband’s Family Accused Her Of Being A Gold Digger, She Forked Over Her 40-Page Prenup For Them To See

“Here’s the kicker,” she said. “While my family is not rich, I am. I started my own software company and sold it for over $5 million in 2010.”

“I took most of that and invested in technology stocks. My net worth is 8 figures, whereas my husband has a trust in the 7 figures. We just don’t flash fancy cars, an absurd home, or brand name everything.”

Not that long ago, she and her husband were talking to his aunt over the phone, as she’s the only person in her husband’s family who is a good person, and they all overheard her husband’s uncle in the background accusing her of being a gold digger.

Everyone could clearly hear her husband’s uncle keep going on the nasty, negative comments about her, and that was the final straw for her.

She took her 40-page long prenup and emailed it out to her husband’s family to detail her list of assets that she earned all on her own. After that, her husband’s family had nothing more to say about her, and a few of them even went out of their ways to be sweet to her.

Although you might think that was a brilliant way for her to put everyone in their places, her husband is not happy with what she did to prove her worth.

“This did not sit well with my family or my husband,” she continued. “My husband doesn’t care that they know we have a prenup, but he didn’t want them to know how much I have. He is more worried that his family will try to leech off me now. Very ironic. I don’t regret my actions, but my husband keeps saying I messed up.”

Would you have sent a copy of the prenup too, or would you have handled this in a different way?

She Feels Guilty That She Only Went After Her Now-Husband Because Of His Money

For much of this twenty-nine-year-old woman’s life, she did what she was “supposed to do.”

The woman grew up in a trailer home and was no stranger to financial struggles beginning in childhood.

Then, in grade school, she was an average student before graduating and attending an “okay” college to obtain an “alright” degree.

“I was hired for a fine job, and I did everything I was supposed to. But, I was still struggling, and I could barely afford rent,” the woman recalled.

Nonetheless, she believes the only differentiating characteristic was her attractive appearance. The woman was petite and thin with blonde hair and blue eyes. And men had no problem hitting on her.

The problem with the woman’s past boyfriends, though, was that they did not actually get to know her. Instead, they simply prized her looks and wanted to show her off in social circles.

But, all of that changed while the woman was working at an accounting firm. She came to meet one of the firm’s largest clients, who always seemed like a friendly and down-to-earth guy.

He would always find excuses to talk to the woman, and, one day, she engaged in some conversation with him.

The woman learned that he was going to happy hour at a fancy restaurant downtown after work, and she decided to say she had always wanted to go there.

“I obviously knew what he did for work; I knew that he had money. And a few hours later, I was sitting across from this sweet older man, eating the best meal of my life,” the woman recalled.

The client was forty-five years old at the time; meanwhile, the woman was twenty-six. And even though he was not the woman’s typical type– she even found him a bit boring– she still “pushed the relationship forward.”

Then, just one year later, the woman was looking down at a three-carat diamond ring on her finger.

She had moved into a beautiful home, had a wardrobe filled with expensive clothes, and was able to travel around the globe. Most importantly, though, the woman was not living paycheck to paycheck.

“I wasn’t sick with worry every day that my bank account would overdraw,” she said.

And since the pair have gotten to know each other on a much deeper level, the woman has realized how amazing her now-husband is.

He treats her like gold, values her opinion, is considerate of her feelings, and actually makes behavioral changes after he messes up.

Some of the “stock talk” does still bore the woman, of course. But, she views that as a small trade-off for the genuinely lovely person her husband truly is.

Now, they are expecting their first child together, and the man is extremely involved– which the woman wholeheartedly appreciates.

Still, though, this significant milestone has made her feel guilty about how, or rather why, their relationship even began in the first place.

“I would do anything for him now. But for about the first six months of our relationship, all I worried about was keeping him interested so that I would have a way out of my mediocre life,” the woman admitted.

This initial motivation has made her feel ashamed of herself, but the woman still feels like she cannot say that out loud to anyone in her life.

Moreover, while expecting her first child, the woman does not want to hold onto these icky feelings while starting their family together.

After all this time, do you think the woman should still feel guilty? How many relationships begin because of “superficial” interests? Does “all is well that ends well” apply here?
