Instead, Daily Harvest has identified tara flour as the cause of illness in consumers.
“We have only used this ingredient in French Lentil and Leek Crumbles, and we are no longer sourcing from this producer,” Drori said.
She explained that tara flour is not used in any other of the one hundred and forty items sold through the company. Drori also claimed it was Daily Harvest’s first time ever using tara flour.
“This was the first and only time we have used tara flour– which has been available and used in the North American market as a plant-based source of protein prior to our use,” she said.
Still, what component of tara flour made consumers ill is still unknown.
“Our investigation team will continue working with the FDA, the tara flour producer, and others to help determine what specifically made people sick,” Drori noted.
In the meantime, the statement reassured Daily Harvest consumers that all other products are safe to enjoy and do not contain tara flour as an ingredient.
