And unfortunately, not everyone has a best friend. So, they turn to Jen.
“One in six people do not have any friends, and that is totally cool,” she explained.
Moreover, some people choose to hire Jen even if they do have friends simply because those friends would not make good bridesmaids.
“They would add to the drama, add to the stress, or just would not be there for them in the way the bride needs,” Jen said.
So, people are not just using Jen’s company for the appearance of having a filled bridal party.
They are more so hoping to have a helpful professional who can be a shoulder to lean on throughout the day.
Because let’s face it, weddings can be emotionally exhausting no matter how excited you are to tie the knot.
Nonetheless, the gig does not come without its downsides. Jen recently shared how the most challenging part of her business is saying goodbye to all of the brides she has met.
“Seventy-five percent of the time, when people hire me to be their bridesmaid, it is a complete secret, and we don’t talk ever again after the wedding ends. And that part never gets easier,” Jen shared.
This happens so often because some brides do not want their guests, or even husbands, to become suspicious about the hire.
In fact, Jen sometimes takes on a fake name and backstory while working at weddings in order to make sure she and the bride’s friendship make sense.
