“Don’t propose on decking,” added another, followed by the “taking notes” emoji.
“I feel so bad for them both,” wrote a third commenter.
But while the situation was far from ideal, the couple did not let it ruin their proposal. In fact, Geri shared that she did “say yes,” and the pair bought a new ring together the next day.
Nonetheless, Ross and Geri are still hoping to locate the ring. After all, it was “an expensive proposal,” according to Geri.
The pair did try retrieving it from the lake themselves using nets and magnets but were unlucky. So now, the couple has been reaching out to scuba divers in the Norfolk, U.K., area for more professional assistance.
“Help!” Geri wrote in the subject line of numerous emails explaining her predicament. And she did hear back from some scuba divers.
They discussed how difficult it would be to locate the ring due to limited underwater visibility and reiterated that a large magnet is the couple’s best bet. Thankfully, Geri’s most recent update shared how a man reached out to the couple and offered to let them use his underwater metal detector.
They have not yet updated the TikTok community on when they will be submerging yet again in search of the ring.
