11-Year-Old California Girl Rescued After Her Hand Became Stuck In A Mall Escalator

According to the CDC, elevator and escalator incidents kill about thirty people each year. On top of that, these incidents result in the severe injury of seventeen thousand people annually.

Most of the elevator injuries and fatalities occur among elevator staff and workers– with half of these deaths being due to falls.

“Incidents where workers were caught in between moving parts of elevators and escalators are also numerous,” the CDC reported.

In turn, it is crucial to remain alert when traveling up or down a moving escalator. Moreover, if traveling with children, be sure to monitor their limb placement and assist them when loading on or off.
