“She threw out the idea of wearing the dress my mom saved for me at her wedding because ‘it would save them so much money.’ Then, my mom brought up the fact that she was not comfortable with that since she was saving the dress for me,” she explained.
Brad, though, did not take no for an answer. Instead, he began urging her mother to agree since she now has two wedding dresses– one from her first marriage and one from her marriage to Brad.
Then, Tessa jumped in again and began claiming it would make more sense for her to wear the first dress since she is taller and thinner.
Despite her mother still being on the fence, though, Brad would not stop pushing. Instead, he had the nerve to go and take the gown out of storage and present it to Tessa. And this understandably made her infuriated.
“I freaked out and grabbed the dress out of her hands. I told her she was not allowed to wear my mom’s dress and that she could get her own mother’s dress or buy her own. But, she was not allowed to wear the dress my mom has been saving for me,” she said.
And after the outburst, she locked herself in her bedroom with the dress. Since then, her mom has been texting her constantly and asking her to go outside to discuss everything with her and Brad.
In the meantime, though, Brad has continued calling her a spoiled brat, and Tessa has been demanding an apology and the dress back.
So now, she feels awful about how she acted and is not sure if her outburst was an overreaction. Nonetheless, she still does not want to give up the last piece of her father to “a stranger” and is wondering what to do.
Do you think taking the dress back was a reasonable reaction? What would you do if you were in her shoes?
