And when he arrived at his sister’s house for the birthday dinner, the man realized he had made a good choice because, ironically, Hank would not shut up about how the man would turn out to be a deadbeat father himself.
“So, when it was time for gifts, I got up and handed him a book on parenting. I said, ‘Here, I found this amazing book called The Gift Of Failure. It’s about parenting… strange concept, I know, but I figured you’d benefit from it, especially with a third kid on the way,'” the man said.
Apparently, everyone at the dinner was absolutely speechless. The man’s wife and mom both laughed; meanwhile, Hank gave the man an angry look before storming off upstairs. Then, his sister had to run after her husband.
Hank did eventually return to the party and claimed to have “calmed down after he turned on the football game.”
But, later that evening, he also sent the man a nasty email saying he was embarrassed and mocked.
“He also demanded I apologize publicly just like I humiliated him publicly,” the man explained.
And while he believes that his actions were totally justified, the man has been wondering if he went too far and acted like a jerk.
Do you think the spiteful gift and statement was warranted since Hank has been treating the man’s sister so badly? What would you have done in the man’s situation?
