Her mood instantly changed, and she screamed at him that it was so wrong of him to ask his sister to show him how to braid hair since she couldn’t even do her own hair nicely.
“My sister was born disabled and only has the use of her right side of her body her left side barely works at all, and she is almost unable to use her left hand, but apart from that, she has a high motor ability and to people who are unaware doesn’t ‘look’ disabled at all, because of this my sister does a lot of things with only one hand including her hair,” he explained.
“I asked my girlfriend to explain what she meant by my sister not doing her hair properly, to which my girlfriend said that it looks weird when my sister does her hair as her left arm/hand doesn’t do anything I reminded my girlfriend of my sister’s disability…”
“I explained that doing her hair with one hand was the way that I had learned to do it as my sister is my only reference to doing braids as our mom died when we were young.”
“My girlfriend then proceed to call my sister weird and freaky, which caused an even bigger argument.”
All this has made him feel like he probably should stop dating his girlfriend, but he’s worried he’s blowing this out of proportion.
