The husband did not want to buy his wife something she did not like because if she brought it on the trip, it would be much harder to exchange or return.
And the woman did agree and thought shopping together for the items was a good idea.
However, in the week leading up to the birthday trip, the pair became extremely busy and never got a chance to go shopping together.
The woman was half expecting her husband to surprise her with the new watch and weekend bag before she took off for vacation but was “pretty disappointed” when he “did not take the initiative.”
Nonetheless, the woman did not mention anything and tried to enjoy her birthday celebration. After returning home from her vacation, though, she did bring it up to her husband– who got extremely offended.
“He told me that I just spent thousands of dollars on a nice relaxing trip with my family while he stayed home and took care of everything; meanwhile, I am complaining about a watch and a bag. But, I told him that he knew how much I was looking forward to having those items for my trip,” the woman said.
So, in the end, her husband actually ended up apologizing for “ruining her trip.”
Still, though, the woman does not believe her husband’s apology was sincere, and now she kind of feels like a jerk.
