But, after her daughter’s friend left the following morning, she received an angry call from the friend’s mother a few hours later.
Apparently, the friend told her mother she was forced to do chores during the sleepover, and the mother said that was unacceptable.
“I explained that they just put their own snacks and plates away. But her mother said that if she were hosting, she would have just taken care of those things,” she said.
Moreover, the friend’s mother also accused her of being a bad host for “wasting” her daughter’s time at the sleepover.
So now, she is utterly puzzled. To her, putting snacks away and placing your dirty dishes in the dishwasher are just basic tasks that she does not consider chores.
However, the other mother’s comments have made her question if she was really a lousy host by asking her daughter and friend to tidy up after themselves.
Do you think that she was asking too much of her daughter’s friend? Is it only common courtesy to tidy up after yourself while you are a guest at someone’s home?
