But, even though her fiancé kept complaining about it, she supported her father’s decision and said he was in no way obligated to pay for the event. Still, she did not think that disagreement was going to escalate so much. Well, that was until this week when her fiancé told her to “find someone else” to walk her down the aisle.
She was understandably totally caught off guard and asked her fiancé why. But then, her fiancé had the nerve to claim that since her father refused to help with the wedding payments, he should feel lucky he was even getting an invite.
“I got upset and argued that one, my dad refused to contribute because he has no money. He cannot afford to pay,” she explained.
“And two, just like any bride, I want my dad to walk me down the aisle on my wedding day.”
However, her fiancé just did not understand. Instead, he actually threw a massive fit and claimed she was trying to ruin his mood and make him upset on their wedding day.
She could not believe her ears after he said that and ultimately called him selfish for trying to take away the special father-daughter moment she had always dreamed of over some petty disagreements.
And even though this led her fiancé to just continue yelling at her, she did not care. She just reiterated that the wedding was both of their days before storming out. Still, ever since that argument, her fiancé has remained furious. Plus, he is insisting that on top of being inconsiderate, she is projecting her own feelings onto him.
So now, she has been left wondering if calling her fiancé selfish for not wanting her to walk down the aisle with her father was somehow a jerky thing to do.
Do you think she had a right to call him selfish? Do you believe her fiancé and father could ever reconcile their differences? What would you do in this sticky situation?
