“I was fuming because he refused to let her photo be hung anywhere near his and, by that, he has claimed the entire wall,” she said.
Plus, her daughter graduated months ago and has had that spot on the wall claimed ever since. And regardless, she believes that her daughter’s accomplishment deserves to be celebrated– not shunned to some “lower level” display area.
Her husband could not possibly understand this, though. Instead, he got super upset, said she was making a huge deal about her daughter, and claimed she could simply use the hallway as a display spot.
Understandably, though, she still refused. But, this launched her and her husband into a massive argument.
And during that fight, her husband’s true beliefs came out. Not only did he think that master’s degree photos and high school degree photos should not be hung together, but he actually said he did not think a high school graduation photo was even worthy of being hung up on the wall in the first place.
On top of that, he also claimed that she was being totally inconsiderate of his feelings and disrespectful to both him and his accomplishments.
Still, though, she does not think that her daughter’s photo needs to come down for any reason. Moreover, she is pretty upset that her husband– who is her daughter’s stepdad– could think of her daughter’s accomplishment in such a belittling light.
Nonetheless, she is not sure if choosing to die on this hill also makes her a jerk to her husband.
Do you think she had a right to refuse to take down her daughter’s photo? Would you have done the same? How would you resolve this argument?
