Since retiring Director Ricky Adams approved Angela’s case for genetic testing in August of 2021, though, the victim was successfully identified as Angela Mason via DNA comparison to a relative.
Moreover, more of Angela’s true history has been able to come to light. She was approximately five foot six and attended Putnam City West High School. Angela was also a registered citizen of the Cherokee Nation, was married, and was a mother to four children.
Finally, she was last seen in the spring of 2008 while in Moore, Oklahoma.
Equipped with this new information, OSBI Special Agents are now investigating Angela’s death as a homicide. They have since returned to the site where Angela’s remains were discovered to reassess the scene and collect additional evidence.
“Now, our team will continue to work to get Angela the justice she deserves,” added Spurlock.
In the meantime, authorities are asking that anyone who knew Angela Mason or who has any information regarding her death contact the OSBI at (800) 522-8017 or email tips@osbi.ok.gov. Any tipsters can remain anonymous.
