Cooper has also specifically jumpstarted this effort by launching the 1% Steps for Health Care Reform Project back in February of 2021. There, he assembled dozens of scholars and outlined sixteen intervention targets, including policies that decrease home health fraud, raise antitrust enforcement budgets, and increase organ donation.
If implemented cohesively and successfully, the initiatives have the potential to decrease U.S. health care spending by nearly ten percent.
Still, citizens across the country will need to urge elected officials and decision-makers to add these steps to their agendas.
