Nonetheless, the researchers did warn that an observational study such as this one cannot prove cause and effect alone.
“Observational studies like this always raise the question, ‘Is there something else about tea drinkers that makes them healthier?’ I like tea. It’s great to drink. But a cautious interpretation seems like a good idea,” explained Marion Nestle, a food studies professor at New York University (NYU).
And even though the study is not substantial enough to advise people to change their tea drinking habits, Nestle advised current tea drinkers to continue on with their tea drinking habits.
“And please enjoy your cup of tea,” Nestle added.
