So, come the day of her sister’s wedding, everything appeared to be going well at first. She attended with her boyfriend and said hello to her family. But, once it was time for the reception, she noticed something was off with her sister.
First, she went up to congratulate her sister and new brother-in-law. Afterward, though, her sister pulled her aside, saying they did not approve of her dress and that it would be best if she left the wedding. She was pretty caught off guard and said that the dress had fit all of the requirements for guest attire. Her sister, though, totally disagreed.
“She told me that it looked as if I was attempting to upstage her at her own wedding with my dress of choice,” she recalled.
So, in an effort not to cause a scene, she and her boyfriend decided to just leave the wedding. But, on her way out, both of her parents asked what had happened, and she spilled the beans.
Her mother totally agreed with her sister and said that she looked like she was trying to be “too showy” for a wedding. However, her father actually took her side. He claimed that her dress was in no way too fancy and that her sister was just acting jealous.
So now, she is pretty torn about the situation. She is not sure if her sister overreacted or if she should apologize to her sister for wearing the dress.
What would you do in this situation? Is the bride always right or not?
