“There were six bridesmaids, so that would equal two thousand and seven hundred dollars. I’m sorry, that is a huge hell no. I have already spent more than I wanted to, and I reminded her that she would have to start paying for these things because I am reaching my limit.”
She also tried to come up with a more price-conscious solution and remembered how great of a seamstress her mother was.
She believes that her mother could replicate the same dress at a fraction of the cost. After all, her mother created both her and her best friend’s quinceañera dresses back in the day.
After suggesting this, though, her best friend was not into the idea. Apparently, the friend wanted to make sure they did not “risk anything happening” and did not really hear her out.
So, she was forced to just tell her friend that she would not be paying for the dresses at all since she was already thousands of dollars over her budget. And her friend totally freaked out after that.
“She got upset and said that I agreed to this wedding, so I knew it would be expensive and, as a maid of honor, it is my job to do this for her,” she explained.
Then, her friend said she had not spent a quarter of what her friend had spent on the event. And, understandably, she said, “Yeah, because it is not my wedding.”
This led to her friend basically screaming at her and accusing her of trying to force her “cheap lifestyle” down her friend’s throat.
Plus, her friend ended the conversation by saying she should no longer be the maid of honor.
She was understandably pissed and shocked by her friend’s behavior. So, at that moment, she decided not to attend the wedding at all.
And told her friend she would not be making an appearance at the ceremony beforehand, too. But, since her flight and accommodations were already paid for, she still traveled to the destination and essentially went on her own mini vacation.
