But, the entire time Pebble was gone, Allie was apparently “inconsolable.” Her daughter would not stop crying and refused to eat or even leave her room. On top of that, Allie would have a panic attack every single time the phone rang. Each time, her daughter thought it was the vet calling to tell them that Pebble had passed away.
Miraculously, that never happened, and Pebble made a full recovery. But, she has still been left with two massive problems. Allie now has extreme anxiety about the possibility of losing Pebble. Plus, she has been saddled with super expensive veterinarian bills.
Additionally, Janie has also been getting the cold shoulder from their two sisters for forgetting Pebble on the deck. Apparently, Allie will not speak to Janie, and Phoebe will not hang out with Janie anymore.
So, she and her husband were left wondering what to do about this whole ordeal. And after some careful consideration, they decided to make Janie get a job to pay for Pebble’s medical expenses– which wound up costing about two thousand dollars even after insurance.
However, Janie became super upset after learning about the new plan. Apparently, Janie will be forced to quit the swim team in order to get a job. And waiting until after swim season is over is not an option, either, because Janie starts soccer season and then softball season afterward.
So now, Janie has accused her of ruining their life over a mistake, and she has been left wondering if forcing Janie to quit the swim team is the wrong way to handle the situation.
Do you think making Janie get a job is the right way to teach accountability or not? What about making Janie quit the swim team? If you were in her shoes, what would you do?
