He Survived Being Stung By More Than 20,000 African Killer Bees, And He’s On The Road To Recovery

According to an interview with Shawna Carter with WPC 9 News, her son ingested around 30 bees, forcing the medical staff to suck the insects out of his airways from Saturday night until the following Sunday morning.

Thankfully, after the incident, the Ripley Fire Department and a spokesperson from the Southwest Ohio Beekeepers Association could identify which type of bee hive Austin trimmed through.

In an update dated September 1st, Shawna shared that Austin is on the road to recovery.

“Austin is still currently in the hospital with breathing problems. His oxygen keeps dropping, and he still can’t walk very well, still very wobbly, but a lot of the swelling has gone down a whole heck of a lot,” Shawna wrote.

To learn more about Austin’s condition, stay up to date on his journey to recovery, and help support the family during this incredibly challenging time, you can find their GoFundMe by clicking here.
