As soon as she saw the damage that her boyfriend’s family dog had done to her anniversary present, she started sobbing.
In response, her boyfriend began laughing at her as she kept crying. Now, her boyfriend’s family dog has a history of destroying things; the dog has ruined her makeup, one of her bags, one of her wallets, and several other things.
She just felt heartbroken that the dog had now ruined her anniversary present, and she began screaming at her boyfriend, who was still laughing at her.
“At this point, I grabbed my stuff and stormed off to my car,” she said. “He came outside and started saying, “I wasn’t laughing! It is a $20 book I don’t see why you’re acting like this.” To me, it wasn’t just a book, it was an anniversary gift that I was ready to baby and cherish for the rest of my life.”
“I just wanted to leave as I felt like my feelings were not being validated. His mom came outside and said, “don’t you think you’re being a little dramatic?”
“This book meant a lot to me. I am quite poor at the moment, and I am not really a materialistic person. I know it can be replaced, but I felt like his parents should have taken accountability and replaced the damaged property, and my boyfriend should have validated my feelings.”
She’s left wondering if it was mean of her to scream at her boyfriend after all for laughing as she cried over the book.
Would you have gotten that upset too?
