He then said it was alright if she really wanted to stay home while he went to poker night, and she insisted that he should go without her.
So, he did go to his family’s poker night without his girlfriend, and it appeared to be a trap.
“When I did, she blew up at me for leaving, going so far as to say “we’re done” because I abandoned our date (I came over for dinner and a movie, and we had finished both),” he continued.
“I knew “we’re done” didn’t mean anything, but I was ready to be done with all this after that until she called me crying like, “I’m sorry for everything. I’m sorry, I’ll change. I shouldn’t get mad at you for spending time with your family. I’m sorry, I’ll go to therapy and get better,” and I couldn’t. I ended up letting her stay the night after that, even though I wanted to be alone.”
His girlfriend then threw it in his face during that argument that she chose not to go on a family trip to visit her newborn nephew, and her reason for doing so was that they could have the house to just themselves.
She used that example to tell him that he should have skipped out on poker night. Well, he replied to his girlfriend that she should have gone on her family trip to see the baby, and that infuriated her.
“How can I be expected to make sacrifices because she chooses to sacrifice things for me that I would never imagine asking for?” he wondered.
