She Made History As The First Contestant In 94 Years To Compete In Miss England Completely Makeup-Free

Although Melisa wants to comfort others by letting them know they do not need makeup to feel beautiful, she does not discredit her competition and those who love wearing it.

“I appreciate makeup as a form of art and creativity,” she told BBC News. “It’s ok to wear makeup to enhance your looks or for special occasions, but it shouldn’t define us. It’s about the choice. I wanted to prove we don’t have to wear makeup if we don’t want to.”

Women of all ages are praising Melisa for her choice and thanking her for bringing attention to the issue.
