The FDA Just Confirmed That There’s Currently An Adderall Shortage, And Here’s Everything You Need To Know About It

Pharmacies around the country are unable to fill prescriptions and have even resorted to turning away new patients because they don’t have enough Adderall in stock. In addition, since Adderall is a drug that has specific regulations, it’s difficult for pharmacies to find new and approved brands to carry.

According to a survey conducted by the National Community Pharmacists Association, about 64 percent of 360 independent pharmacies were having trouble obtaining Adderall from July 25 through August 5.

“Some people are just going without,” said Bloomberg health reporter Ike Swetlitz. “You know, they’re not doing as well at their jobs. They’re not really able to keep up as much in professional and personal relationships. Some people I’ve talked to are trying to compensate with other sorts of stimulants, drinking a lot of coffee, energy drinks – people I’ve talked to who have thought about going to the black market.”

Hopefully, soon, patients will be able to get the medication they need.
