He Told His Brother He Could Not Babysit Because He Had To Work, So His Brother Actually Dropped His Nephews Off At The Office, And He Was Forced To Call The Police
This thirty-one-year-old man has a brother, who is thirty-six and is a widowed father to two sons. Both of his nephews are under the age of ten and used to have babysitters growing up.
But, ever since his brother met his new girlfriend, his brother stopped hiring any help for a pretty bizarre reason. Apparently, his brother’s girlfriend claimed that she wanted the kids to warm up to her and get used to her being “the only woman in their life.”
And honestly, he already thought that was a major red flag. Still, he did not comment on his brother’s childcare choices.
However, perhaps he should have– because ever since his brother discontinued the use of babysitters, he has been expected to watch his nephews whenever his brother has to do something. Don’t get me wrong– he does not mind watching the kids whenever he is able to.
“But, I work a demanding job and need to cover full-time, and he, for whatever reason, refuses to acknowledge that,” he explained.
And just a few days ago, his brother’s lack of respect for his career ended in total disaster. It all began when his brother wanted to go out to lunch with his girlfriend in order to meet her friends.
So, if you could not have guessed, his brother wanted him to watch the boys. His brother wanted to go out in the afternoon in the middle of a work day, though, so he was forced to tell his brother no.
Still, his brother begged him to actually take a day off from the office– which he thought was ridiculous. And he ended up refusing and going to work as normal that day.
Well, by about 11:00 a.m., he received a visit from a coworker who walked into his office with his two nephews trailing behind.
He was understandably shell-shocked, and then he learned that his brother had just dropped the kids off at the office to stay with him while he worked!
“I was in a state of disbelief but also furious. I felt stuck and terrified that my boss would see this and I would get in trouble,” he recalled.
Plus, his nephews happened to walk in while he was already swamped with work and could not take any time away to occupy them.
So, in a moment of desperation, he decided to turn to the only solution he could think of: calling the police.
While talking to the officers, he explained the entire situation. Then, the officers got ahold of his brother, and his brother was forced to go to his job and pick up the kids.
Apparently, his brother also got into trouble with the authorities– who ended up spending hours talking to him about the kids’ childcare.
At the end of the day, though, his boss, unfortunately, found out about the mishap. So, he was still forced to leave work early and go home for the day– which was obviously not good.
Despite totally inconveniencing him and even threatening his job, though, his brother still had the nerve to call him up and totally scream at him later that night.
His brother called him every name in the book. Then, his brother accused him of not only ruining the meeting with his girlfriend’s friends but also getting his brother in trouble with the police.
“He called me vile and said that I could’ve had the kids with me for a couple of hours or even took them home and took the rest of the day off,” he vented.
Plus, ever since that argument, he and his brother have not been speaking. Still, his brother’s girlfriend has not stopped badmouthing him and claiming that she treats the kids better than he does and that he should be ashamed of himself.
So, even though he feels like his brother was totally out of line for leaving the kids at his job, he has now been left wondering if calling the police was the wrong way to handle the situation.
Why do you think his brother thought it was okay to just leave his kids like that? Do you think he had a right to call the police or not? What else could he have done in this situation?
