Ever since she released her first holiday album, “Merry Christmas,” back in 2004, the star’s renditions of both old and new tracks have continued to be megahits every single year.
Obviously, though, one holiday song far outshines the rest. Of course, I’m talking about “All I want for Christmas is You,” in which Mariah’s upbeat energy and high whistle tones get holiday lovers of all ages to dance and sing along.
Last year, the world-famous track racked up over one billion streams on Spotify– a number that will only continue to grow during this Christmas season. It is also the first and only holiday single to ever earn a diamond record– meaning it has sold over ten million units– and the track has won Mariah three Guinness World Records.
One of the most popular questions about this modern-day Christmas classic, though, is how much the track actually makes Mariah every single year.
Well, according to Celebrity Net Worth, the festive hit generates between six hundred thousand and one million dollars a year in royalties for both Mariah and the song’s writer, Walter Afanasieff. This means that Mariah has earned about sixty million dollars to date from that one song alone.
As for Mariah’s overall net fortune, she is estimated to be worth a whopping three hundred and forty million dollars. That is a lot of jingle bells!
While it is utterly insane to think that just one song could continuously rake in so much money, though, at least “All I Want for Christmas is You” consistently brings joy and fuzzy feelings of the Christmas spirit to people around the globe.
