She’s using the money to pay down her debt and invest in fixing up the house that she’s inheriting.
The problem here is that her husband has mentioned in the past that his mom and dad were great at saving their money and that they had quite a good amount in the bank. Her own mom and siblings have heard her husband say this before, and they are expecting her and her husband to be super rich, as they are aware of the inheritance (though they don’t know it’s really not too much).
“So for the last two months, they have been sending me Christmas gifts they have in mind that I could get them, things such as phones, computers, TVs, jewelry, and even a $50,000 car,” she said.
“I know they are doing this because they know about the estate, and I honestly just feel used. I can’t tell them the truth about the estate because they have their minds made up that I’m extremely wealthy either way.”
This ties into her not wanting to go home for the holidays, as she feels her family is just using her for the expensive presents they expect her to buy.
Do you think it’s wrong of her not to want to go home for the holidays, or would you feel the exact same way?
