This 18-Year-Old Aspiring Journalist Got In Serious Trouble With Her High School And Parents For Heading To A Homeless Camp To Interview Their Former Star Football Player

“The principal called me into his office, and he called my dad, and I spent the next hour being told how stupid I was and how I made the school liable for my safety,” she said.

“The principal and teacher were going to meet on Friday and discuss whether I need to be fired as editor of the school news site. Word got around school, and people were accusing me of having a homeless fetish and so much more disgusting stuff.”

“I’ve been fighting with my parents all weekend, and they’ve taken my phone and car away. I reminded them that I’m 18, and they were so rude about that, too, and didn’t relent. My friends are even mad at me.”

She’s wondering if it was wrong of her to head to a homeless camp after all to interview their high school’s former football star.

Do you think she should have done this, or do you think she should have found another story to write about for her school’s newspaper?
