She ended up telling her dad about the money, and he was very upset that she did not mention it to him before.
“Then his wife got upset that all three of us had access to significant amounts of money and her kids did not,” she said.
“Her oldest is heading to college next year, and she was annoyed that we had so much money on hand and none of us went to a traditional university where we’d need the money. It then became an excuse to go after my uncle for “favoritism.” He told them we were his nephew and nieces, and the other kids were not his family and were not getting anything from him.”
Her dad and stepmom have kept giving her and her siblings a hard time about not telling them about the money.
Her dad appears to be disappointed more than anything else, while her stepmom is just furious. Her stepmom also wants her to share her money with her stepsiblings and half-brother.
“It has now become such a point of contention that we’re almost estranged,” she concluded.
She’s left wondering if she should not have kept the money hidden from her dad and her stepmom. Do you think she should have told them about the money as soon as she knew that she was getting it?
