Her Boyfriend Proposed To Her On Christmas In Front Of Her Whole Family So She Felt Pressured To Say Yes, But Then She Returned Her Ring

“Sure enough, after we finished opening presents, in front of my whole family, he proposed. I was pissed.”

“Everyone was excited, and I was put in the position of having to say yes or risk ruining Christmas. I wanted to walk out of the room but was literally trapped with my whole family surrounding us, with everyone taking pictures and recording the whole thing.”

She did say yes, and she had to spend the rest of the day with a fake smile on her face. She did end up retreating to the bathroom multiple times throughout Christmas day to cry in peace and quiet.

She was so upset because she had confided in her boyfriend that she wanted anything but a holiday proposal.

Additionally, she tried to speak to him about being engaged when she had a feeling he was going to propose on Christmas, and her boyfriend brushed her off.

“While proposing, he even acknowledged that he knows I didn’t want him doing this on a holiday but that he felt it was time and he wanted to propose in my parents’ home since he couldn’t ask my dad for his blessing (he passed away before I met my boyfriend),” she said.

“The next morning, I gave him the ring back and told him I couldn’t marry him because he has no respect for my wants and needs.”

She just can’t get over the fact that he proposed to her on Christmas despite her making it clear that was not what she wanted at all.

She’s left feeling like he really doesn’t know her at all, and she’s upset.

Her whole family has already been talking about her engagement, which also made her unhappy since she wanted it to be a private moment between the two of them, not a family fiasco.
