Understandably, though, her parents got pretty pissed off. First, her mom reportedly “got defensive” before calling her husband out for acting ridiculous.
Then, her dad accused Luke of trying to pull “some power move” in an effort to humiliate her parents.
Despite their reaction, though, she still felt like her husband’s request was not that crazy. So, she proceeded to tell her parents that unless they sent Luke a separate invitation, she would not be attending the Christmas celebration.
And boy, did that spark some massive family drama. In fact, the entire argument blew up and actually ended up involving the rest of her family.
So now, her sister is claiming that Luke needs to get over himself. Plus, her sister “shamed her” for trying to force her parents into sending her husband another invitation by giving them an ultimatum.
Still, Luke claims that “a simple text” would completely resolve the conflict on his end. In turn, she has not spoken to her parents since their argument and claims she and Luke are now just waiting to receive that proper invite.
In the meantime, though, she has had a lot of time to reflect on the situation. So, she has been left wondering whether or not telling her parents she would not show up to Christmas unless her husband got a separate invitation to the party was actually the wrong thing to do or not.
Isn’t it customary for couples– especially married partners– to be included in the same invitation? Why do you think that Luke felt entitled to his own separate invitation to her family’s party? Do you believe it was wrong of her to threaten to miss the Christmas party unless her parents sent her husband another invite? What would you have done had you been in her shoes?
