“I was speechless,” she said. “Even worse, he was speechless.”
Her phone ended up very far down the mountain on a ledge that’s impossible to get to, she explains. Though she and her date try to reach her phone, it is to no avail. Only when an experienced climber stepped in was she able to breathe a sigh of relief.
“He sees we’re failing, and he goes, ‘do you want me to come try?'” Riley said.
Shockingly, her phone was not lost that day thanks to the pro-climber who took used a risky climbing technique.
“He hikes down, and he starts free-climbing up,” she said. “When I tell you this man actually was able to free-climb all the way up to it and got it for me–he got it.”
After the fear of kicking her phone off of the ledge, mostly because of what her strict parents would have done, it is a miracle that her phone was not damaged at all.
“My phone was fully intact and still worked,” Riley said.
It was also a miracle that her date wasn’t deterred by the situation and continued to go out with her–something that her followers were not surprised by. Many supported her and claimed that she didn’t do anything to destroy their date.
“Not ruined, just made it more memorable,” one user wrote.
“U didn’t ruin it; you put spice to it,” another said.
Even OtterBox, the company whose case was on her phone at the time, reached out and commented, “what an adventure.”
An adventure it was, but there’s one thing to remember: don’t go hiking for a first date, and definitely don’t sit on the edge of a cliff, or you might kick your phone off too.
@ri.conrad For sure the most embarrassing story that I have #embarrassingstorytime #firstdatefail #iruinedeverything
