It’s impressive how quickly the mom was able to come up with a solid story on the spot, but she then explained that there were some issues she had created for herself with that tale.
“One, she’s three, and she wants to play with it now. Two, here’s what’s also wrong with that problem. I have now sent my child to school to tell every other child that she already got a gift from Santa and ruined it for every other parent,” she said.
She concluded the video by asking more experienced parents how they hide their presents so their kids won’t find them until Christmas Day.
Many parents on TikTok offered some great advice, some speaking from personal experience.
“Option 1: Have it delivered to the store. 2. Check box that indicates it’s a gift, so it does not come in its original packaging. 3. Ship 2 friend,” advised one user.
“Same happened to me when my daughter was 3. Cinderella’s castle was sitting in the drive. I now have big items shipped to a family member’s house,” stated another.
“When this happened to me, I told my daughter it was for a toy drive. Since she loved it so much, I knew it would be a good item for a toy drive,” someone else chimed in.
