Then, he spoke to his stepdaughter, revealed the plan, and tried to tell her that it would not be an immediate switch.
Instead, he claimed that his stepdaughter would have some time to find another place before his sister moved in and took over the place.
As you can imagine, though, his stepdaughter was understandably upset. She also asked if she really had to move out and pointed out how it was going to be hard to find different housing.
At that point, he claims he offered to help his stepdaughter find another apartment. But, he underscored how the switch was “their decision.”
It appears that “they”– meaning him and his wife– are not really deciding this together, though. In fact, his wife is actually not happy with the new arrangement at all and has accused him of being really unfair to his stepdaughter.
So now, with both his wife and stepdaughter pretty upset, he has been left wondering if forcing his stepdaughter to move out of his apartment in exchange for his sister’s family was a really jerky thing to do.
Who do you think takes precedence– his stepdaughter or sister? Does it make matters worse that he already offered the apartment to his stepdaughter just to take it away? Is it understandable why his wife is angry at him? If you were in his shoes, how would you handle this situation?
