Her aunt then allowed her to move into her place, and her aunt also helped her out with money too.
In contrast, her sister never did go to college and instead hopped from one job to the next.
She believes her sister never learned to care about any job since their parents provided everything she could ever need.
But anyway, when she did move away to go to college, she only had a minimal relationship with her parents. There wasn’t a point for her to keep them in her life, as they didn’t care to support her in any way.
Fast forward to now, and she’s done well for herself. She has an excellent job, she has an apartment all to herself, she has wonderful friends, and she even has a pet cat. She loved the life that she has built for herself.
Not too long ago, her dad called her up to say that her family is struggling financially.
Her sister cannot hold down any job, her dad’s hours at work got cut, and her mom’s new job doesn’t pay close to what she made at her old job.
Her dad was honest about not having enough money to support him, her mom, and her sister.
“He asked if my sister could stay with me to lighten the load on them,” she said. “I said no, I am happy now, and getting involved with y’all will just make me miserable. You guys didn’t do much for me when I was young, so I don’t owe them anything.”
“My dad tried to plead with me saying they could lose the house and end up homeless. I still refused and hung up. Since then, I’ve been getting calls and texts from them begging me for any kind of help.”
“I do feel kinda bad because, from their calls, I can tell they are close to tears. My aunt says I have every right to not want to help, but every time I hear how bad they are doing, I feel guilty; I don’t want them to be homeless, but I don’t want to get involved.”
