In 2002, This Nurse From Upstate New York Found Out She Would Be Receiving A Substantial Raise At Work, Then Vanished After Finishing A Late Shift

At that point, Jeff decided to reach out to Audrey’s mother, Shirley Olmstead, to see if she had heard from Audrey.

Apparently, it was not unusual for Audrey to stay over at her mother Shirley’s house from time to time– even though Audrey would typically tell Jeff first.

To Jeff’s concern, though, his wife had never gone over to her parent’s house. So eventually, after some back-and-forth phone calls, it was decided that the Herrons needed to contact the authorities.

Shirley reportedly had a family member working in law enforcement who was able to help report Audrey as missing. Then, investigators wasted no time in launching a search.

Police officers combed through one hundred and twenty miles of roads and trails in the Catskills, conducting searches both by foot and helicopter. Unfortunately, though, no evidence was ever found.

And now, it has been over twenty years since Audrey seemingly vanished into thin air. Still, the Herron family refuses to give up hope.

Back in 2013, they created an Instagram account @Missing_Audrey to spread awareness about her case– sharing news features, statements from loved ones, and memories.

“I still pray for Audrey May and for someone who is responsible to be brought to Justice. I know that the State Police have not forgotten her, and this is still an active investigation,” one of Audrey’s friends wrote on the account’s most recent post.

“Remember, if there is someone out there who knows the information that will give her family closure, do the right thing and let the authorities know.”

More recently, on May 5, 2022, the New York State Police did launch a new search detail in conjunction with members of the New York State Police Recovery Team (URT).

New information was reported to authorities that led them to investigate Maurer’s Lake and Potuck Reservoir.
