Going into something so serious and unknown like this is no doubt nerve-racking, but if you decide to get this procedure done, too, know that it is not scary.
“Honestly, I was so nervous,” she said. “And it was just like a breeze.”
Once the procedure is done, it takes approximately two to three days for the Botox to take effect.
“So, either tomorrow or the day after, I might do my first-ever burp,” she said. “Fingers crossed!”
Well, turns out the procedure was successful for her, and just a few videos later, she was posting updates.
“40 hours ago, I got Botox injected into my throat sphincter to hopefully allow me to burp,” she said. “I’ve had, like, a few little micro-burps, and I’m going to drink this fizzy water and see if I can do my first-ever burp!”
Her eyes light up with joy and excitement when she is finally able to burp for the first time ever in her entire life.
“It worked!” she said. “There were a few side effects on, like, day four. I had slow swallowing–that lasted about a week–then there is occasional regurgitation, which it’s happened like twice, and it’s only when I, like, down loads of water and then lie down.”
Aside from that, there wasn’t much else that she had to deal with during this process.
“There’s a bit of, like, acid reflux, heartburn,” she said. “But altogether, it’s so…worth it.”
This fixed a lot of problems for her, not just the burping.
“I don’t get bloated, I don’t get the pain or the nausea in the evening,” she said. “It’s just been brilliant.”
