“Number two is going to be distressed cabinets,” he said. “It came in like a tidal wave and left just as quickly.”
Wondering why he doesn’t recommend this look for your farmhouse kitchen? Pricing.
“You pay premium prices for a new kitchen for it to look like an old one?” he asked. “Honestly, make that make sense.”
Along with the distressed cabinets, avoid the subway tile backsplash.
“Another really bad offender is the full subway tile look–from your backsplash all the way up your wall,” he explained.
“Your kitchen is already busy enough, and you don’t need to overcomplicate it. The full subway tile to the ceiling makes it look like a trucker restroom stop.”
In order to avoid this problem, he advises choosing a different tile design.
