At that point, he decided that it was not worth risking her safety and ultimately turned her away.
“I am really sorry, madam, but for safety reasons, I can’t perform a massage on you,” he reportedly told her.
Afterward, he also claimed that he listed off other services he was able to provide her without weight being an issue. Unfortunately, though, the woman was just too embarrassed and upset over what happened. So, she and the rest of her group decided to just cancel their massage appointments altogether.
Now, he claims that he has since spoken with management about what happened, and they were all on his side.
“The decision I made was based on actual concerns and not feelings about the client,” he said.
His coworkers, on the other hand, were apparently not as understanding. In fact, he claims that three of his colleagues now “absolutely hate his guts.” They also believe he should have been a lot more accommodating to the client.
So now, he has been left wondering whether “telling someone they were too fat for a massage” made him a real jerk or not.
Does it sound like he was being fatphobic or like he was genuinely concerned about the client’s safety? Do you think he handled the situation well? If not, what could he have done better? Do his colleagues have a right to be angry at him or not?
